HEMORRHOIDS TREATMENT
Only high grade hemorrhoids need to be treated surgically; most of them can be treated conservatively with hygienic, pharmacological and / or dietetic standards or by instrumental treatments.
We fully understand that seeking aconsultation on symptoms related to the anus such as pain, bleeding, itching, suppuration, lumps, etc., is difficult for the patient. It is a priority in our centre to provide all the necessary information so that the fear of pain or embarrassment do not lead to delays in the diagnosis of serious illnesses or the need for more aggressive treatments due to more advanced cases.
In recent years in proctology, as in other fields of medicine, there has been an evolution towards less aggressive treatments while getting equal or better results than before. Ano-rectal or proctologic surgery is reputed to be very painful. We are well aware of this and our goal is to break down this preconception. For this reason we use the most advanced technology with a judgement based on many years of experience.
TYPES OF HEMORRHOIDS TREATMENT
Instrumental conservative treatment
In our centre, the most frequently method is rubber band ligation as it is highly effective both in controlling bleeding and in avoiding the externalization of hemorrhoids. Another advantage is that it is done in outpatient consultation, allowing activity to be resumed instantly, making this the gold standard method for non-surgical treatment of hemorrhoids.
Minimally invasive surgery
For hemorrhoid surgery we provide the latest desarterialization and anal repair technique, which is woundless and without removal of hemorrhoidal tissue.
We use a self-illuminated device equipped with a Doppler probe that allows location of the arteries that supply the hemorrhoids using ultrasounds, thus facilitating their ligation or photocoagulation using laser energy in the exact spot.
This decreased blood flow in the anal canal level leads to the reduction and shrinkage of hemorrhoidal packages, acting on the source of the disease and also preventing its progression.
This technology is also used for anatomically repositioning internal hemorrhoids that have been exteriorized.
The advantages of this method are obvious:
- Minimal discomfort
- Outpatient surgery
- Quick recovery and return to daily activity
Laser Surgery
Laser: artificially generated light whose rays are one single colour, all moving in the same parallel direction. These properties allow lasers a brightness of special high intensity and high energy that can be focussed on one single spot.
When hemorrhoids present a significant external skin component with frequent inflammation and itchiness or daily hygiene problems, removal is necessary to eliminate these symptoms and achieve the best aesthetic result.
For this surgery we use a latest technology CO2 laser scalpel that minimizes surgical damage and can be accompanied, if necessary, by thermosealing of blood vessels which avoids stitching. For this reason postoperative pain is significantly lower, which facilitates outpatient discharge or a short hospital stay of less than 24 hours.
These same advantages of laser technology, using ultrapulsation or vaporization mode, are applicable to other common diagnoses, such as anal and vulvar condylomata and skin excrescence of any kind.
Vaporization (removal) of pathological tissue by carbon dioxide laser is achieved with minimal skin lesion due to an extremely precise light which does not destroy the tissue around the lesion and allows faster and more aesthetic healing.
We also treat the following entities:
- Anal fissure
- Fistula – Perianal Abscess
- Condylomata acuminata (anogenital warts)
- Tumours of the rectum and anus
- Traumatic injuries
- Anal stenosis (narrowing)
- Pilonidal cyst or sacrococcyx fistula
